Tooth Cutout Activities

Use various sized tooth shape cutouts

Small tooth cutouts: Number individual cutouts to form a number line. Use them to explore numerical identification, patterns, and skip counting. Manipulate them to create basic operation equations.

Small tooth cutouts: Create a bingo game. Print or produce a game board and number the spaces. Next, roll dice to determine a number, and place matching numbered tooth on the board.

Large tooth cutouts: Write a number on the cutout. Participants trace the number with a crayon or colored pencil. Choose the same color and number of pompoms and glue to the cutout. Point out important dental care numbers such as 2 and reinforce the need to brush 2x per day for 2 minutes.

Large tooth cutouts: Draw a happy and sad face on two separate cutouts. Provide an assortment of pictures that represent items that are healthy and harmful for teeth. (i.e. food/drinks, hygiene tools, dentist) Match the picture to the appropriate tooth. Glue items to the appropriate tooth or string the items with dental floss and attach to the cutout to create a mobile.

Use a small or large inflatable beach ball. Write dental numbers on the ball with a Sharpie. Use the ball to prompt questions and discussion about what each number represents. Move the ball to each participant by playing hot potato, or by singing a short toothbrushing song. When the music or singing stops, the participant holding the ball answers a question or shares a fact related to the dental number on a specific color.
