Tooth Cutout Activities

Use various sized tooth shape cutouts

Write each letter of the alphabet on a cutout. Participants place in order to create an alphabet line.

Write each letter of the alphabet on a cutout. Make multiple copies of each letter, using both upper and lower case:

Participants spell their name

Provide a list of dental vocabulary. Use the letters to spell out each word

Create a matching game ā€“ direct match and upper and lower case match

Write dental related words or write the first letter of the word on a cutout. Provide pictures of the item represented (dentist, toothbrush). Have participants match pictures to cutout.

Create a happy and sad tooth. Provide pictures of healthy and harmful choices for the mouth. Match pictures to proper tooth and glue. Write the word or first letter of each choice represented under the picture.

StoryTime Activity

Choose a book from the Story Time section to create a letter and vocabulary word hunt.

While reading a story, have participants name a word from the story that starts with the letter ā€œDā€. Prompt the word dentist, decay etc. Discuss who the dentist is and why we need to see them twice a year. Define decay and talk about how to prevent it.

Sequencing Activity

Produce pictures of the tooth brushing process from start to finish. Participants color pictures, cut them out, and glue them to paper in sequential order.

Produce (or have participants create) pictures illustrating the daily routine of a child.

Examples: waking up, eating breakfast, brushing teeth, going to school etc. Each step should be a separate picture.

Participants place the pictures in sequential order, discussion should focus on nutrition (3 meals and only 2 snacks a day) and dental hygiene and the impact both have on our teeth.
